When a century-old maple tree in front of ceramic artist Gregory Engel’s home had to be removed in 2004, the broad, flat stump left behind invited colonization by new life forms. Over five hundred characters have come to populate the Ravenna Trollbooth since then. The original stump has long ago rotted away and been replaced by railroad ties, providing a more durable platform that, in addition to housing a geocache, has become a Pokemon Go site.
