For those who pull up into the residential streets around this natural area, it seems like there is a forest in the middle of the city. Back in 1940, George and Theadora Plumis bought this plot of land as their first home. Their children later sold the plot to private individuals, but the parkland was purchased with the Conservation Futures Tax funds through the Seattle Open Space program and created an urban forest plan to include many native plants, a nature trail, a natural play area, a stair climb, and natural elements to be incorporated into the park grounds.
