Kirke Park
7028 9th Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98117, USA
Kirke, the Norwegian word for church, pays tribute to both the Norwegian Heritage Ballard holds dear in addition to the history of the site. More than 90 years ago, the site was originally the Church of the 7th Elect in Spiritual Israel. While many aspects of the churches’ history are still incorporated, the site was designed to reflect both the site's past as well as the neighborhood's future. It answers the question “How can we as a society grow and keep our past?” It includes a play area and gathering area were added to one area while a p-patch resides in the original walls and garden plots in the other area.
