Several community activists and local organizations came together to form the African American History Museum (NAAM). Residing in what was formerly the Colman School, NAAM is home a permanent collection of African American artifacts, cultural and history documents, a genealogy resource center, and library. This institution also regularly hosts exhibitions for established and emerging local artists as well as community events.
